Indonesia Tour: Java, Bali & Gili Trawangan – Top 3 Highlights

In July 2025, the time had finally come: my tour of Indonesia could begin! This trip was especially exciting for me because I would see my boyfriend again after six months! He was interning in New Zealand for six months , so we hadn't had much time to talk due to the time difference. When I saw him again for the first time in a long time, everything immediately felt right again. This trip was the perfect way to reconnect and catch up on the past six months. During our trip, we visited the islands of Java, Bali, and Gili Trawangan , where we saw so many beautiful places. For your convenience, I've listed my top three:

Kawah Gunung Bromo

On Java, near Malang , lies Mount Bromo. This volcano is 2,329 meters high and, along with two other volcanoes, is located in a national park. From a nearby mountain, you can look out over the valley and the volcanoes at sunrise. You have to get up early, as the journey to the viewpoint takes about four hours. But the view as the sun rises is breathtaking! We were lucky with clear weather. It was special to experience this together.

Lovina

At Lovina, on Bali's north coast, you can spot dolphins early in the morning. At 6 a.m., we watched the sunrise together on the beach. Then we went out on the water on a small fishing boat. The fishermen pointed out where the dolphins were swimming, and we even saw young ones! If you're in Lovina, it's definitely worth getting up early and going.

Gili Trawangan

Gili Trawangan is one of three islands off Lombok , and you can only reach it by boat. There are no cars or motorbikes on the island; everything is done by bicycle or horse-drawn carriage. It's a wonderful place to unwind after a busy journey. We enjoyed the blue sea and even swam with turtles .
